Saily eSIM Plans for Costa Rica
What you get with Saily in Costa Rica
Which Saily plan should you pick?
For a short city break of 3–5 days, the cheapest plan at £1.00 will cover Maps, WhatsApp, and casual browsing. If you're spending one to two weeks travelling around Costa Rica, step up to a mid-tier plan — usually the strongest value option on a per-GB basis in Saily's Costa Rica lineup.
If you plan to work remotely, stream video daily, or use your phone as a hotspot for a laptop, lean towards a larger bundle.
One thing to note: Saily Costa Rica plans are data-only. You won't get a local number, but your existing SIM handles calls and texts as normal. iMessage, WhatsApp, and FaceTime all work over data.

Saily eSIM for Costa Rica 2026 — what you need to know
Saily is a well-regarded eSIM provider with solid Costa Rica coverage. Plans range from short-break options to longer-stay packages, making Saily a flexible choice whether you're spending a long weekend or travelling for a month.
Costa Rica has three operators: Kölbi (the state-owned ICE incumbent, biggest), Claro and Liberty (formerly Movistar after the Telefónica sale). Kölbi has the widest national footprint and the best coverage in the more remote bits of the country, which matters here. 4G is solid across San José, Liberia, La Fortuna, Monteverde, Tamarindo and the Manuel Antonio area. 5G is now launching commercially in San José and other main centres. Cloud forest tours and zip-lines around Monteverde have signal at the lodges. The Osa peninsula and Corcovado are mostly off-grid, and Tortuguero is patchy. Roads to Drake Bay drop signal fast.
Is Saily good in Costa Rica?
In our testing, Saily connected reliably across major cities and travel routes in Costa Rica. Plug is type A/B (120V, same as the US) and the currency is the colón, but US dollars are accepted absolutely everywhere alongside it. Tipping is included in restaurant bills (10% servicio), so anything extra is genuinely optional.
